Compton Verney House
We were invited by the collector Sir Peter Moores to redisplay his art collection, which hangs in a listed Robert Adam house in an 18th century landscape. The diverse collection ranges from Neapolitan paintings to Chinese bronzes, and from German medieval religious sculpture to Britain’s largest folk art collection.
This threw up the challenge of unifying the experience. Our solution included an illuminated light box installation for wayfinding, to sit in the welcome space. Peter Moores’ intention was to open up art for a wider audience, and thus access and interpretation were key to our thinking.
The new displays opened in 2004.
