Metaphor was asked by the Client to examine the implications for Southampton of its participation in the creation of a National Trail to commemorate the 400th anniversary of sailing of the Mayflower. Eleven destinations (including Southampton), all of which are part of the Mayflower Story, are taking part in the creation of this trail. Collectively they tell the big Mayflower story from its beginnings in a couple of tiny hamlets in north Nottinghamshire, through the escape of the Pilgrims to Holland, then their return to England and finally their sailing with other families - migrants, traders and settlers – to the New World.
