Kurdistan Museum
The Kurdistan Museum put out a tender in 2010 that Metaphor responded to. Our proposed approach was built on several key premises, listed below:
-
First, that Kurdish history and culture have largely beenr ecorded from the point of view of the many empire builders that controlled the region, and this project should give voice to the Kurdish people.
-
Second, this is very complex history, full of twists and turns, and we need to find ways of making it clear and easy to follow.
-
Third, that need to celebrate Kurdish culture (music, dance, poetry, architecture, textiles etc.) because it was this that was so very nearly lost.
In essence, we structured our proposal around the notion that this was not a convention history museum, but has many qualities of a genocide museum.
