National Trust Coughton Court

In 2009 the National Trust asked us to find new ways to brand this house as a destination and to bring it alive for the visitors.

This was the first of a number of projects we carried out with the National Trust. In every case we masterplanned by beginning with the story and using it to underpin our thinking.

At Coughton Court we devised a story-driven masterplan that plays on the dualities of light and dark and that fits with the house’s complex history including Catholicism and the Gunpowder Plot. Once realised, the exhibition design will be atmospheric and immersive and will flow out of the house, through the gardens and into the landscape. We also reconfigured the Welcome Experience and created a programme of projects that will roll out over a number of years.
