Working closely with Nick Cox Architects, Metaphor designed major new displays and a new lift in the South Transept of Winchester Cathedral. These displays tell the remarkable story of this building, from its beginnings in the 11th century at the heart of Anglo-Saxon England through to the present day, and the extraordinary artefacts it houses. It is an epic story of great moments of creativity but also moments of near destruction for the Cathedral.

In 2020, the Kings and Scribes Exhibition won a UK Heritage Award for Most Improved Heritage Development. The exhibition was commended for its fully accessible three-level exhibition space. The judges said "this has been a long-term project which now allows visitors to explore over 1000 years of English history. The inspiring and educational experience offers visitors the opportunity to learn all about the significance of this historic building within the wider story of English history."

In 2021, the South Transept Spaces won multiple RIBA awards. RIBA described the project in the official announcement: 

"This project encompasses a series of simple and elegant interventions into a nationally important and historic building. The outcome enables better engagement with the cathedral, improved understanding of its heritage and better accessibility for all. With a very restrained palette of metal, wood, and glass, the detailing and quality of the materials used are impressive. The craftsmanship is stunning and worthy of this important setting and it is evident that many elements will improve with age as they gain the patina of use."
