Surreal Things, Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao
We were invited to design this exhibition after designing the Surreal Things show at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. We created a completely new design for the Guggenheim Bilbao, responding to the uniqueness of the Frank Gehry building as well as the necessity for interpretation in three languages.
Like the V&A show, the exhibition focuses on surrealist and surrealist-influenced fashion, furniture, interiors and decorative arts. The project included the innovative Didaktika learning space for visitors and school groups, where they could develop and share their ideas about Surrealism and the displays.
The exhibition proved very popular and was seen by 575,500 visitors making it the most visited V&A touring exhibition ever.

Juan Ignacio Vidarte, Director General of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao said '...[Metaphor] has succeeded in transforming the Museum space [...], making the tour of the exhibition visitor-friendly [...] and ensuring every object has the place it deserves.'
