We were invited by the collector Sir Peter Moores to design the display of his art gallery, set in a Grade I listed Robert Adam house in an 18th-century landscape. The diverse collection of art ranges from Neapolitan paintings to Chinese bronzes, from German medieval religious sculpture to Britain’s largest folk art collection.
 

The challenge was creating a unified experience out of these extraordinary and diverse collections. One solution includes an illuminated light box installation for wayfinding in the welcome space, which arranges images as if in a giant slide sorter. Peter Moores’ intention was to open up art for a wider audience, and thus access and interpretation were key to our

thinking.
 

This project was designed in collaboration with Stanton Williams Architects. It was short-listed for the Gulbenkian Prize for museums and galleries in 2005.
